Not my favorite TexMex.
The good:
Chips and salsa are excellent, as are the tortillas.
Bean soup is good and comes with any order.
Food is hot and pleantiful
Prices are reasonable
Service was very good.
The menu is HUGE!
What I did not care for:
The menu is HUGE! I suggest offering a "pick 2, 3, 4" and it all comes with rice and beans.
Rough neighborhood
Place is kinda rough around the edges, although I like the "authentic" decor that is lacking in most new TexMex places
Did not care for the ground beef in the puff taco or the beef enchilada. Seemed to lack spices that ground beef usually has. There was quite a lot of it however.
I dined at the original location back in the 70s when it was a TexMex up and comer per D Magazine. I don't believe I have ever been back since. Probably because a hole in the wall can only hold my attention so long. I guess I missed out on when this location was in its prime.
In summation, I bet there are many things in the menu I will like better than the ground beef items I ordered. But I had to drive 20 miles to get here and pass a dozen great places on the way. I will likely only return if I happen to be in the neighborhood. -

**Patio is too mosquito/fly friendly**
We come here frequently and we get good service. But recently we went with a group(10 people) and had to sit outside. Because inside was full and it was HOT. The patio seating was perfect until we got the chips and salsa and got a whole bunch of flies around us. The next day I realized I was covered (literally on my legs and arms) in mosquito bites. They don't have any kind of (atleast not visible) mosquito or bug repellent outside. As a place close to the trinity you would think they would have something atleast. So we will definitely be picking somewhere else to go when we have a large party or want to sit on the patio. -

Great tex mex restaurant. We went on a Saturday for brunch and it was delicious. The service when we first entered was subpar bit once we sat, our waitress was great. She gave us suggestions and the food was cooked perfectly. The price is great and the quality matches.
The menu is massive so I will return to try the dinner menu. -

It's just honest to goodness Tex-Mex.
After 6 PM all meals start with a cup of bean soup. You can tell they've been simmering all day. Menu item 12A - The plain cheese enchiladas. All the cheese is ooey gooey goodness! On Wednesday night you can get the cheese enchiladas for 5 bucks and some change.
Menu item 17- Chicken Sour Cream enchilada- The sauce is rich and creamy with a little bit of tang from the sour cream. Garnished with a few pickled jalapenos and a dusting of chili powder.
